New York--(lawntennismag.com) Our picks for Wednesday:

Anna Chakvetadze (RUS)[6] vs. Shahar Peer (ISR)[18] Arthur Ashe Stadium –1st match
Shahar Peer runs down a lot of balls and has a great attitude, but Anna is playing very consistent tennis and being more forceful with her groundstrokes.
Prediction: Anna Chakvetadze

Agnes Szavay (HUN) vs. Svetlana Kuznetsova (RUS)[4] Arthur Ashe Stadium –2nd match
Szavay is fast becoming a threat. Svetlana however already is one. Her experience will be the difference plus Kuznetsova has more firepower.
Prediction: Svetlana Kuznetsova

Nikolay Davydenko (RUS)[4] vs. Tommy Haas (GER)[10] Arthur Ashe Stadium –3rd match
We are pulling for the sentimental favorite Haas, but I think Davydenko will not miss any balls. Haas is up and down and will not be able to overpower Nikolay, but we are thankful to have seen his great upset of James Blake.
Prediction: Nikolay Davydenko

Jelena Jankovic (SRB)[3] vs. Venus Williams (USA)[12] Arthur Ashe Stadium – 4th match
Jelena Jankovic has beaten Venus Williams the last three times they have played. I don't think Venus was playing nearly as well back then as she is now. Venus Williams can win Wimbledon as she did earlier this year, or she can lose in the first round. That is part of what makes her so exciting to watch. The USTA rewarded her by delaying her match from Tuesday to tonight. Venus wil be out to prove she can beat Jelena and more importantly to move a step closer towards her third US Open title. Jelena does not stand a chance. Venus will win in a little more than an hour.
Prediction: Venus Williams

Roger Federer (SUI)[1] vs. Andy Roddick (USA)[5] Arthur Ashe Stadium – 5th match
Before the tournament I picked Roddick to upset Federer. I think Andy is overdue for a huge win and his serve is going well this week. If Andy can hold serve, he can take Federer in the tiebreaks which is what I think will happen.
Prediction: Andy Roddick
