In the men's final, Andy Roddick of the USA lost to world number one Roger Federer of Switzerland 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 as
Roddick was unable to stay at Federer's high level of tennis.
Andy Roddick, currently America's best player said of Federer: "He's
the best player in the game. He's improving as well, which is scary."
Maria Sharapova Wins US Open Singles Title

Saturday night at the US Open in the women's final, tennis' darling
Maria Sharapova of Russia claimed her second grand slam title
by overpowering French Open champion Justine Henin-Hardenne of Belgium 6-4, 6-4. Sharapova's key to
victory was her mix of patient groundstrokes with aggressive netplay and baseline power.
I had not seen
Maria unleash some of those power forehands and serves since she won Wimbledon two years ago. Maria
was playing some of her best tennis and fully deserved the win.
Maria Sharapova To Face Golovin Tonight

the quarterfinals tonight at 6pm CST USA, Maria Sharapova
of Russia will face Tatiana Golovin of France.
Head to head Maria leads 3-0, last winning in Miami of this year after Golovin retired from the match with an
ankle injury at 6-3, 6-7(5-7), 4-3.

Andy Roddick Set For Late Night Battle With Lleyton Hewitt

quarterfinals of the US Open in the second night match on Ashe Stadium,
Andy Roddick takes on Lleyton Hewitt of Australia in the men's
quarterfinals. Hewitt leads Roddick head to head 6-2; however Roddick won their last meeting last year in
Ohio 6-4, 7-6(7-4). Andy Roddick and James Blake are the lone American men left at the US Open.

Errors Costly For Serena Williams

At the US Open Monday,
Serena Williams of the
USA lost to world number one Amelie Mauresmo of France at 6-4, 0-6, 6-2 in the fourth round. Williams, who
was making a comeback from a knee injury had lead Mauresmo head to head 9-1. But on this day, Amelie launched
her own smart mix of slice and topspin which lured Williams into costly errors.
