Carlos Alcaraz Powers Into Roland Garros Fourth Round Paris-- Friday in round three at Roland Garros, the 19 year old 6th seeded Carlos Alcaraz of Spain powered past the 27th seeded Sebastian Korda 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 to reach Sunday's fourth round.

Alcaraz broke serve to take an early 3-1 lead before serving for the opening set at 5-4.

Alcaraz reached 15 all after striking a crosscourt backhand volley winner.

Korda then committed three groudstroke errors to drop the set.

dropshot winner which he followed up with a down the line forehand winner to break serve and lead 3-2.

Serving at 5-4 30-15, Alcaraz served and volleyed; hitting a down the line backhand volley winner to reach set point.

The 21 year old Korda struck a down the line backhand return long to drop set two.

The Spaniard closed out the match in set three with a powerful display of groundstrokes to advance to a round four Sunday night match (an estimated time of 12:00pm PST USA) versus the 21st seeded Karen Khachanov.

The two players have never faced each other before.

The 6 feet 6 inches tall Khachanov will have a height advantage over the 6 feet 1 inch tall Alcaraz. However Alcaraz will hold almost every other advantage.

Khachanov blasted 65 winners in his third round Roland Garros match but could find it difficult to repeat against the Alcaraz baseline defense.

Alcaraz reached the US Open quarterfinals last year as an 18 year old.

This year he became the only player to beat the world number one Novak Djokovic of Serbia as well as the 13 time Roland Garros champion Rafael Nadal of Spain in the same clay court tournament earlier this month at Madrid, Spain.

Alcaraz could meet the third seeded Alexander Zverev in the quarterfinals and Djokovic or Nadal in the Roland Garros semifinals.

Alcaraz is known for his ability to hit powerful groundstrokes from the baseline as well as for his soft baseline dropshots and serve and volley change ups.

Alcaraz along with Nadal and Djokovic are the three favorites to win the Roland Garros title next Sunday.
