Canada Defeats Australia To Win Davis Cup Malaga-- Sunday in final round play at the Davis Cup in Malaga, Spain, the 6th ranked Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada defeated the 24th ranked Alex de Minaur of Australia 6-3, 6-4 to put Australia ahead 2-0 and seal the Davis Cup victory for Canada; its first ever.

Earlier in the day the 18th ranked Dennis Shapavalov of Canada beat the 94th ranked Thanasi Kokkinakis of Australia 6-2, 6-4 to give Canada a 1-0 lead.

"It's a dream come true," Auger-Aliassime said. "It's a special team. Hopefully, this generation will be able to bring this very far."

Auger-Aliassime is an all-court tennis player who possesses a powerful serve and forehand as his main weapons.

The six feet four inches tall 22 year old Felix Auger-Aliasime reached the 2021 US Open semifinals in his best ever grand slam showing.

This year the Canadian took titles in Rotterdam, Florence, Antwerp and Basel.

Auger-Aliassime is an all-court tennis player who possesses a powerful serve and forehand as his main weapons.

The six feet one inch tall 23 year old Dennis Shapavalov reached the 2021 Wimbledon semifinals in his best ever grand slam showing.

Shapavalov reached the finals in Vienna and Seoul in his best showings this year.

Shapavalov is an aggressive left-handed baseliner with a powerful forehand as his main weapon.

The Canadian is also known for hitting an explosive leaping one-handed topspin backhand.
