Venus Williams Wins Hong Kong First Round HONG KONG-- Tuesday in Hong Kong at the Prudential Hong Kong Tennis Open, the third seeded Venus Williams of the USA overcame a slow start to defeat the lucky loser Yuliya Beygelzimer of the Ukraine 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 in two hours and 13 minutes.

The American went zero for six in break points while losing her own serve twice to drop the opening set before taking a 4-1 set two lead.

Williams; however, stumbled as Beygelzimer broke serve to level the set at 4 all.

Williams then took the final two games of set two to level the match at one set all.

The American double faulted twice to drop her opening service game of set three before trailing 0-2.

A good finish this week for Williams, playing in her final scheduled WTA Tour tournament of 2015, could result in the American reaching the WTA Finals tournament which is to be played the week of October 26th in Singapore.

The duo exchanged several additional breaks of serve before Williams struck her fifth double fault of the day to trail 3-4.

Williams, who had yet to hit an ace for the day, then raised her level of play to break serve tolevel the set at four games all.

Then in a hit or miss, perfect example of the American’s extreme power game, Williams struck two aces as well as two double faults in her following serve game to hold serve to lead 5-4.

Serving to stay in the match, 199th ranked Beygelzimer trailed 15-30 before facing double match point at 15-40.
