Americans Sam Querrey, Jack Sock Reach Houston Final HOUSTON--Saturday at the Fayez Sarofim & Co. U.S. Men's Clay Court Championship at Houston, Texas, Americans Sam Querrey and Jack Sock both posted semifinal victories to reach Sunday’s final round.

In the first of two semifinals, the unseeded Sock upset the third seeded Kevin Anderson of South Africa 7-6(7-3), 6-3 in 1 hour and 33 minutes.

In semifinal number two, the eighth seeded Sam Querrey also posted an upset, defeating the sixth seeded Fernando Verdasco of Spain 7-5, 2-6, 6-4 in two

The 27 year old Querrey has never met the 22 year old Sock before in an ATP Tour match.

Ranked 19th, John Isner is the top ranked American ATP Tour player, followed by Querrey at 42nd, Donald Young at 45th, Sock at 46th, Steve Johnson at 52nd and Tim Smyczek at 68th.

The 27 year old Querrey has never met the 22 year old Sock before in an ATP Tour match.

Querrey, who has won seven career ATP Tour titles, posted his best ever grand slam results in 2010 when he reached the fourth round at both Wimbledon and the US Open.

In the quarterfinals Friday, Querrey upset the top seeded Feliciano Lopez of Spain 6-4, 6-1.

Sock, who is yet to win an ATP Tour title, reached the third round at last year’s French Open as well as at the US Open in both 2012 and 2013 in his best grand slam results.

Sock as well as Querrey both use aggressive baseline games and powerful serves as their main weapons.

The Houston singles final is scheduled for Sunday at 2:00pm CST (12:00pm PST).
