Petra Kvitova Overpowers Eugenie Bouchard To Win Wuhan WUHAN--Saturday at the Dongfeng Motor Wuhan Open at Wuhan, China, the third seeded Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic overpowered the sixth seeded Eugenie Bouchard of Canada 6-3, 6-4 in the championship match.

Kvitova broke serve to take an early 3-0 lead before holding on to lead 5-2.

Serving at 5-3, Kvitova sent a powerful serve down the tee which the Canadian framed in a forehand return to send Kvitova ahead 15-0.

Bouchard netted a crosscourt backhand to trail 0-30 before striking a crosscourt backhand long to set up set point.

Bouchard was unable to sustain an extended level of consistency as she struck a backhand return down the middle long to end the match.

A powerful Kvitova serve out wide forced a netted Bouchard crosscourt backhand return to end the set after 31 minutes of play.

Kvitova broke serve then held serve to start set two.

Bouchard then held serve to reach 1-2 before receiving oncourt treatment for an injured finger on her left hand which involved wrapping with white tape.

Following three consecutive holds of serve, Kvitova led 4-2.

The Canadian double faulted to open her service game to trail 0-15.

Kvitova then hit a crosscourt forehand return long followed by a forehand volley and a forehand groundstroke winner to reach 15-40.

A powerful down the middle forehand return from Kvitova forced a Bouchard crosscourt backhand long to seal the break of serve as Kvitova led 5-2.

Serving for the match, Kvitova failed to convert a match point as she netted a crosscourt backhand before going four deuces in a game which spanned more than seven minutes.

Kvitova then netted a forehand volley to lose serve.

Serving to stay in the match, Bouchard held serve to reach 5-4.

Serving for the match, Kvitova hit an ace out wide before striking a forehand down the line winner to lead 30-0.

Bouchard hit a forehand down the line wide to set up match point number two.

The Canadian then struck a backhand down the line return winner to reach 40-15.

However Bouchard was unable to sustain an extended level of consistency as she struck a backhand return down the middle long to end the match after 1 hour and 20 minutes of play.
