Perth--(lawntennismag.com) Americans Mardy Fish and Serena Williams both will began their tennis seasons in a team exhibition in Perth, Australia the week of December 29th at the Hyundai Hopman Cup.

Serena Williams, the 2007 Australian Open champion and Mardy Fish have been named the number two seeds. The team competition is divided into two groups, Goup A and Group B. Williams and Fish will lead Group B.

Novak Djokovic and Jelena Jankovic of Serbia have been named as the number one seeds and will lead Group A. The Davis Cup type format will include men's and women's singles as well as mixed doubles.

Djokovic said, “I’m very exited to play with Jelena. She’s had an amazing year. It’s a tournament of prestige and I think we have a big chance to win.” Jankovic said, “I think we’re a pretty good team. He’s very exciting and his personality is similar to mine, we’re both very outgoing. We will try to play our best”.

Also entered are the young French team of Tatiana Golovin and Gael Monfils, the third seeds from the Czech Republic Tomas Berdych and Lucie Safarova, Australians Alicia Molik and Peter Luczak, the sixth seeds and the seventh seeded Indian team of Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna. The 5th seeded Argentinean team of Gisela Dulko and Juan Ignacio Chela are grouped with the winner of the Asian Hopman Cup.

Group B - USA, Czech Republic, Australia, India

The Hyundai Hopman Cup will be played at the Burswood Dome from December 29, 2007 to January 4, 2008.
